Thanks Bruce, Dan, Stuart...

I'm actually holding up better since he is gone than I did during his final illness. Maybe I'm just in shock, but now there are no doubts, no questions.

We will bury him on Wednesday.

Just so you know, your sympathy means a whole lot to me.

So sorry Roger. I just hope that all of your future Fathers Day memories will be good ones. Perhaps he chose his day for a reason.

My best to you and the family.

Dan

Roger, I am so sorry to hear this news. I know so well what you are feeling. The reason I haven't posted in a while is that I too lost my Father on June 2nd. I have been taking care of him since February and had him on hospice care since April. I am still trying to recover from the months of craziness that my life became. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, my friend.

Take Care,
Frank

Frank, I am sorry to hear about your father, too. I know what it is like to take care of a parent. My father passed on 2 years ago, but a year or so prior to that, we had him living with us for 7 months. It was very difficult to do so, and we finally had to put him in assisted living.

Frank, I am so very sorry. It is good that you were able to take care of him in his final months. Thank you.

Thanks guys! I promised him I would keep him at home as long as I could. He ended up going to the VA hospital in Bedford, MA on Friday May 30 and he only lasted a couple of days there and died Monday morning. He had emphysema (3 packs of smokes a day and continued until 2 weeks before he died) and prostate cancer ( the doctor told him 4 years ago he had it and told him not to worry about it because the emphysema would kill him long before the cancer). Thank god for hospice at the end because both diseases were attacking him pretty good. I told the hospice nurse that I thought the best thing any hospice could do is give a patient a pill, so that when the patient has had enough, they can take the pill and say bye-bye. It was so hard watching him go thru it all, but I'm glad I had the time with him that I did.
